Every home purchase tells a story. Some are straightforward, while others require patience, perseverance, and teamwork. Silverio and Diana’s journey had a little bit of everything—and in the end, it led to the moment they had been working toward: becoming homeowners.
Silverio and Diana were introduced to us through a trusted connection who knew they were considering buying their first home and wanted guidance through the process. After the introduction, we scheduled a getting-to-know-you meeting at our office to learn more about their goals, timeline, and answer their initial questions about purchasing a home.
During that first meeting, we walked through the homebuying process step by step—financing, searching for properties, negotiations, inspections, and closing. Like many first-time buyers, they had several questions, but by the end of the conversation they felt confident that homeownership was within reach.
The next step was connecting them with our preferred lender, Adriana Clapper with Cornerstone First Mortgage, who helped guide them through the pre-approval process. As we reviewed their financing options together, we discovered they qualified for the Maryland Mortgage Program, which provides assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers. Through this program, they were able to receive $25,000 in closing cost assistance, making homeownership much more attainable.
From there, the home search began. And it began during one of the snowiest stretches of the winter. Even with challenging weather conditions—and despite Diana recovering from a recent surgery—they remained committed to continuing the search. Their determination and positive attitude were truly inspiring. Together we toured several properties, considering different options from townhomes to condominiums.
Eventually, they found a property that felt right: a beautiful, move-in-ready condominium in Gaithersburg that fit their goals and budget.

We worked closely together to prepare a strong and well-structured offer. Through careful communication and persistence during the negotiation process, we were able to secure the contract on the property.
Once under contract, we coordinated the home inspection and successfully negotiated repairs on several items identified during the inspection process. Throughout the transaction, we maintained close communication with all parties involved—including the lender, title company, inspectors, and listing agent—to keep everything progressing smoothly.
Finally, closing day arrived. Thanks to the Maryland Mortgage Program assistance, Silverio and Diana were able to purchase their home with 0% down, and the $25,000 assistance covered their closing costs. The funds they initially provided for the earnest money deposit and appraisal were returned to them at closing.
Their dedication throughout the process made this moment possible. By following the guidance provided during the preparation phase and staying disciplined along the way, they positioned themselves to successfully accomplish their goal of homeownership.
On closing day, they were surrounded by supportive friends who came to celebrate with them. We captured photos together and also recorded a video testimonial about their experience, which we look forward to sharing soon.
